What are the advantages of learning Alexander Technique online?
Eileen Troberman is demonstrating the Alexander Tecnique online. In many ways, it is similar to in-person hands-on lessons but instead of me giving you the physical experience in person at my studio, I'll be doing this in an innovative and effective way online. I'll still be teaching you the unique mind/body skills of Alexander Technique. I will still be observing you and guiding you, moment to moment, monitoring the changes in your body usage and giving you the education and understanding of how to make those changes yourself instantly. One difference is that in the online lesson, you will be gaining even more confidence in your own ability to immediately make those changes yourself - because that's what you will be doing!
We can work with any activity that we might usually work with and then some. Having the Alexander Technique lesson in your home or other familiar envirnments can be a great reminder for practicing Alexander Technique in your daily life. Becuause you will have the experiences of doing things with more ease and awareness in your home or other environment, it will be a great reminder to associate and include the Alexander Technique ease on your own as you regularly move about your home or other familiar environments during your daily acitivites.
How do online Alexander lessons work?
It's simple. You click on my online calendar and pick your lesson time. Be sure to include your email when scheduling your lesson. I will then send you an email with a link and at your scheduled lesson time, you'll click on that link and - presto - it will instantly open the Zoom app on your device to connect to me live! You'll see and hear me live on the video screen as well as being able to see yourself. It's as simple as that!
What will I need in order to do these online lessons?
You'll need either a desktop or laptop computer, or a tablet, or a smartphone. You'll need to have a good connection to the internet. If you'll be using a desktop computer, make sure that it has a built-in camera. Most computers over the last 10 years have built-in cameras. Make sure you have your sound turned up on whichever device you're using. It's best to be somewhere without a lot of background noise.
When you face your camera, make sure there is not a bright source of light behind you. Do not have a bright window or light right behind you. If you have a bright light behind you, it'll make you appear dark on the screen. You can have general light in the room with lights above or to the side, and the best image is when you have a light behind the camera so it lights you up.
